UpSkill - Bar Skills

Are you looking for work in a club, hotel, bar or pub?

Give yourself the best chance against the competition and place yourself at the top of the candidate list. This course is designed for anyone looking to enter the hospitality industry who requires basic skills training in bar operations.

This program provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels and clubs and provides a sound introduction to multiskilling and for specialisation in food & beverage and gaming.

Course Structure

This 2 part program provides Statements of Attainment:

The first offers RSA & RCG. These units describe the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell or serve alcohol,  provide responsible gambling services and to assist those customers who have issues with problem gambling.

 

The second offers introduction training in hospitality (bar operations), including customer service, presentation and equipment use.

PART 1 - RSA & RCG

PART 2 - INTRODUCTION TO HOSPITALITY [bar operations]

FSKOCM002     Engage in basic spoken exchanges at work

FSKLRG003      Use basic strategies for career planning

FSKNUM008     Use whole numbers and simple fractions, decimals and percentages for work

FSKDIG001       Use digital technology for basic workplace tasks

FSKDIG002       Use digital technology for routine and simple workplace tasks

FSKOCM007     Interact effectively with others at work

FSKOCM005     Use oral communication skills for effective workplace presentations

DURATION
2 Sessions per week
over 5 weeks - max total 10 days
[including workplace experience]


DELIVERY
Trainer lead - face to face

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
must be over 18 years of age and successful completion of part 1 is required to proceed to part 2, due to licensing requirements

COMMENCEMENT
Course begins mid April 2025
[subject to minimum numbers attained]
