Towards Employment

Towards Employment is a flexible suite of pathway-focused programs designed to support people who are seeking work, returning to study, or exploring future career options. Each program offers a supportive, practical learning environment that builds confidence, employability skills and readiness for work, while strengthening essential language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills.

Across all Towards Employment Programs, learners develop core employability skills including communication, teamwork, organisation, time management, workplace behaviour and personal presentation. Programs are structured to reduce anxiety about employment and study by providing clear routines, hands-on activities and opportunities to practise real-world skills in a safe and encouraging setting. Activities such as mock interviews, workplace communication tasks and practical projects help learners gain confidence and self-belief.

While all Towards Employment programs share a common foundation, each version has a distinct focus or “flavour” aligned to learner interests and industry pathways. For example, Your Career, Your Choice supports learners to explore career options and make informed decisions through industry tasters, guest speakers, site visits and work experience opportunities. Intro to Trades focuses on practical skills for trade and construction pathways, including safe tool use, basic equipment maintenance and workplace numeracy, supported by contextualised accredited and non-accredited learning.

LLND skills are embedded throughout all programs and delivered in meaningful, applied ways that connect directly to work and everyday life. Programs are inclusive and strengths-based, with flexible delivery and reasonable adjustments to support diverse learners. Together, the Towards Employment suite supports participants to take realistic, confident next steps towards employment, training or further education.
